Challenges
metrofibre is responsible for building and managing fiber-optic networks in German cities such as Essen and Düsseldorf. Unlike most providers, metrofibre installs fiber connections all the way into each residential unit — without residents needing to sign any prior agreement with a telecom provider. Coordinating and billing these construction projects is extremely complex. Before partnering with rising systems, there was no central software platform capable of managing these processes end-to-end. Invoices from general contractors were partially reviewed manually, which posed a significant risk given the scale of multi-million-euro construction projects.
Why Odoo?
metrofibre consciously chose not to adopt large ERP systems such as SAP and instead sought a flexible, modular solution. “We didn’t want an overly complex system that would restrict us unnecessarily. Odoo was the perfect choice because it adapts to our needs,” says Brands.

Tender Management
A specialized Odoo module enables the creation and management of construction tenders. General contractors can be integrated directly, and offers can be processed digitally.
Integration of the Construction Database
metrofibre uses a planning tool in which construction progress and trench data are documented. Through a custom API interface, this data flows directly into Odoo.
- Automated quantity reconciliation: Trench and material data can be transferred at the push of a button. Deviations and consumed materials can be precisely tracked.
- Connected to invoice verification: Construction site data flows directly into the billing process — no media discontinuity.
Invoicing & Verification
A core issue in the construction industry is the auditing of contractor invoices. With Odoo, automated and data-driven processing significantly improved accuracy:
- Data-based billing: Invoices are now generated based on actual installed materials and documented construction progress.
